Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has urged caution regarding ongoing transfer speculations surrounding Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus on the current season, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
The 25-year-old striker, who joined Galatasaray on loan, has been a revelation in the Turkish Super Lig, delivering stellar performances that have attracted interest from top European clubs.
Speaking to reporters, Buruk praised Osimhen's qualities and his seamless adaptation to the team, stating, “Victor is an exceptional player, and it’s no surprise that everyone wants him in their squad. He is a great asset to us, and I hope he remains successful with us until the end of the season.”
The coach also highlighted the forward’s positive influence on and off the pitch. “Osimhen is not only talented but also a man of great character. He is dedicated to the team and fully committed to our game plan,” Buruk remarked.
Amid increasing transfer buzz, Buruk advised against placing undue pressure on the Nigerian international. “Of course, I would be thrilled if Galatasaray could secure his transfer permanently. However, constantly discussing this subject is neither fair to the player nor beneficial to the team. He is happy here, and we must allow him to focus without distractions,” the manager explained.
Buruk also pointed out the financial complexities tied to Osimhen’s potential transfer. “There’s an economic dimension to consider, and it’s not ideal to bring up such topics frequently. It’s still too early to make such decisions,” he added.
Acknowledging the club’s interest in keeping Osimhen, Buruk reiterated that maintaining the player’s peace of mind is paramount. “Our president and the management have expressed their desire to retain him, but for now, the priority is ensuring Victor feels comfortable and can give his best for the remainder of the season,” he said.
Osimhen has been instrumental for Galatasaray this campaign, contributing significantly to their push for the Super Lig title. With his focus firmly on finishing the season on a high note, both the player and the club aim to let actions on the pitch speak louder than words.
