Nigeria forward Paul Onuachu has spoken about his future at Southampton, revealing a tumultuous season that has seen him go from transfer speculation to rediscovering his form, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Onuachu spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, but a permanent transfer failed to materialize after the club couldn't meet the valuation.
A move to another club also fell through, leaving the 30-year-old striker in limbo about his future.
However, Onuachu has impressed in recent games, including a standout performance in his first start of the season against Liverpool last month.
New manager Ivan Juric has expressed his willingness to give Onuachu an opportunity to stake a claim for a regular playing berth at the club.
"It's been an up and down season," Onuachu told the Daily Echo.
"First of all, we were talking about transferring and leaving the team. It didn't happen. I kept working hard and believing in myself.
"Russell Martin saw I had potential and started including me. He started to believe in me. He gave me some chances and I think I executed them very well. Now we are here."
