Watford target Iheanacho to solve goal-scoring woes

Published on: 05 January 2025

English Championship side Watford FC are interested in signing Super Eagles and Sevilla forward Kelechi Iheanacho on a loan deal, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Iheanacho, who previously played for Leicester City in the Premier League, has struggled to establish himself at Sevilla since his move in 2024.

The Nigerian international has made nine appearances for the Spanish La Liga side this season without scoring in the league, although he has netted three goals in two Copa Del Rey matches.

Watford, who are currently eighth in the Championship table, are looking to bolster their attacking options and coach Tom Cleverly believes Iheanacho can provide the solution to their goal-scoring problems.

The Hornets have offered Sevilla a six-month loan deal for Iheanacho, but are yet to receive a positive response from the Spanish club.
