VIDEO: Gianluigi Buffon Celebrates Italy Victory by Swinging on Crossbar and Falling Off

Published on: 13 June 2016

Gianluigi Buffon wildly celebrated Italy's masterful 2-0 victory over Belgium on Monday evening by swinging on the crossbar, "?Mirror Sport report.

Belgium were being widely tipped to take the European Championships by storm but they couldn't penetrate the Azzurri's stern defence.

Strikes from Emanuele Giacherrini and Graziano Pelle gifted Antonio Conte's men all three points and at the full-time whistle they revelled in delight with supporters.

Veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon galloped up the length of the pitch to join the Italy fans and he proceeded to swing off the crossbar, before he fell off to peals of laughter.

The moral of the story:

If you're 57-years-old, don't jump on the crossbar #Buffon #ITA pic.twitter.com/31AGvd8kfO

Although he admitted falling off the crossbar hurt, Buffon is expected to be fit for Friday's showdown with Sweden and, after the disappointment of being knocked out at the Group stages in the World Cup, he is wary of getting carried away.

Speaking after the match, he said: "We won in the only we can. It was a sign of humility and awareness. Our organisation came from the coach.

"We must stay humble, This can't be a Pyrrhic victory, we must now look to Sweden."

Italy have given themselves a great chance of qualifying for the knockout stages and Buffon will be vital to their chances of success at this tournament, as he proved by making a string of outstanding saves against the Red Devils.
