Manager Manuel Pellegrini felt it was important that West Ham finally got the job done by defeating Burnley 4-2 at the London Stadium.

The Hammers twice relinquished the lead against the Clarets on Saturday, before late goals from Felipe Anderson and Javier Hernandez gave the hosts a much-needed boost after they had taken just one point from their previous three Premier League games.

And Pellegrini admitted that the result was all that really mattered, with the Chilean telling reporters: "We could have scored more goals, but the most important thing is that we won the game.

The most important thing is that we won the game.

"If you review all of the other games we have had the same feeling - playing well, creating chances, they create few chances in our box - we have been really unlucky, but we've always trusted in what we are doing."

Meanwhile, forward Marko Arnautovic was pleased to see his side get over the line against the Clarets, having seen a number of changes go begging before they finally secured the victory.

He added: "I think over the 90 minutes we completely dominated the game and we could have scored more, because we created a lot of chances.

"It's not easy when you have so many chances, but you have to stay calm as a forward player and try to finish the game as we did."

West Ham are now priced at 20/1 to be relegated this season, with the Londoners 1/2 to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
