The WAFU-B Champions who are in Group A of the abridged league are paired along side Abia Angels, Ekiti Queens, Heartland Queens, Confluence Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Dannaz Ladies and Nasarawa Amazons FC.
Having gathered enough experience from the continental showpiece, it is expected that the Senator Monday Okpebholo, ladies would have to show their supremacy over other contenders if they hope to maintain their rating in the annals of Nigeria Women Football League profile.
Again, If their recent feat at the WAFU-B in Cote D'Ivoire and the CAF Women's Champions League showpiece in Morocco is re- enacted, then opponents in the group should expect a tough battle when they file out on Wednesday January 15th, 2025 against the ladies from Abia State in league opener.
Fresh off winning the WAFU-B play-off, Edo Queens players have vow to showcase their talent in the new season with a positive mindset ready to defend the NWFL prestigious trophy for 2024/25 season. It is no longer news that Edo Queens is a strong team, every NWFL club side want to test strength with the defending champions. Though it will be a difficult challenge, but the players are confidence they can do better. They will prepare in the best way, as always, to try to win the league.
Looking ahead to the new season, the management team also need to invest in their frontline. With Folashade Ijamilusi, Chioma Olise, Comfort Folorunsho and other utility players leaving for greener pasture, it's no secret they need to find a way to replace them with more quality players.
Despite coming fourth in the CAF Women's Champions League fiesta, Edo Queens are still understood to be the best women football club in Nigeria, while Edo State have also been touted as possible destination for the NWFL trophy for 2024/25 season.
