Alexandre Lacazette has played down the severity of the ankle injury he sustained during Arsenal's Emirates Cup defeat to Lyon on Sunday.
The Frenchman is confident of being fit for the Gunners' first game of the Premier League season against Newcastle United despite being seen with a protective boot on his foot after the 2-1 loss.
Asked whether he might be out for one or two weeks, Lacazette replied: "No, before (that). Soon."
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Unai Emery was also quick to calm fears that the 28-year-old could be sidelined for several weeks, saying: "It is in his ankle. He will probably be assessed over the next few days - but it is not serious.
"We are thinking it is not important. He decided with the doctor and with me that it is better to take no more risk. He tried to continue playing but I think it was better in the pre-season to be patient.
"The doctor said to me he is going to check but the thinking is that it is not important."
Lacazette has scored 27 Premier League goals for the Gunners in 67 appearances since moving to north London from Lyon in the summer of 2017. Arsenal are 19/20 to beat Newcastle on 11th August and 8/1 to win the game 2-1.
