Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom ready to play for Nigeria

PAOK Salonica on loaned Arsenal attacker Chuba Akpom has made himself available for selection for Super Eagles matches after he turned down the offer years back.

Akpom was approached by the Nigeria Football Federation to switch allegiance to Nigeria but the Arsenal academy graduate opted to wait for his chance with the three Lions of England.

However, the young attacker has made a u-turn to represent Nigeria following the success story of his longtime friend, Alex Iwobi with the Super Eagles.

‘I’ve always said I hope we can play against each other or play with each other on another occasion’.

“Obviously he plays for Nigeria so hopefully, I can be called up for Nigeria and play with him. It’s just good to see two people that have grown up together doing their own things with their football careers.”

Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Sone Aluko, Ola Aina and Shola Ameobi are some of the players who has played Nigeria at the Senior level after representing England at age grade competitions.
