Players and officials of struggling Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have not been paid for three months and coach Herbert Addo says his players are 'starving'.
The players have been under attack for the club's recent poor showing but is has been revealed that the starvation in the camp of the Phobians could be the cause of the appalling results.
Coach Herbert Addo has also been accused by the fans for deploying bad tactics which could be accounting for the club's poor showing in their recent matches in the Ghana top-flight.
However, the coach insists that the players cannot give off their best because of the alarming starvation levels which has rocked the Accra-based side because of unpaid salaries.
"My players cannot give off their best if they are starving," the experienced coach told a recent post match press conference which has shocked the country.
The club's team manager Sabahn Quaye refused to confirm or deny whether the players have been paid for three months or not but his submission that unpaid salaries should not be the excuse for bad performances has revealed the deeper malaise in the club.
This comes as a sharp deviation from the rosy picture being belted by leading members of the club that owner Togbe Afede, a wealthy businessman, is running the club along professional lines.
Hearts are currently 12th on the 16-team league table but currently just one point from the relegation zone.
