CAF unveils draw procedure for 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced the draw procedure for the TotalEnergies CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024 with the draw set to be held on Friday November 22, 2024, at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Salé, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

Twelve (12) of Africa's top women's football teams will compete in the tournament, divided into three groups of four. The draw will be conducted based on FIFA rankings, with the top-ranked teams seeded into the first three positions of each group.

Seedings: Level 1: Morocco (host), Nigeria, South Africa Level 2: Zambia, Ghana, Tunisia Level 3: Mali, Senegal, Algeria Level 4: DR Congo, Tanzania, Botswana

Draw Procedure: 1. Host nation and defending Champions: Morocco (as host) will be placed in position A1, and South Africa (defending champions) will occupy position C1. 2. Remaining Level 1 Team: The remaining Level 1 team will be placed in position B1. 3. Level 2, 3, and 4 Teams: Teams from Levels 2, 3, and 4 will be drawn into Groups A, B, and C, ensuring a balanced distribution.

The 13th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2025. South Africa will aim to defend their title after their historic victory in the 2022 edition.

As the draw approaches, anticipation grows for the exciting clashes and potential upsets that will shape the 2024 WAFCON.
