WAFCON 2024: CAF taps trio of football icons for draw

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced a stellar trio of football personalities to assist in the draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024, Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The draw will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the prestigious Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Salé, Morocco.

The three draw assistants are:

Andile Dlamini (South Africa): A key member of South Africa's historic 2022 WAFCON-winning team, Dlamini is one of Africa's most accomplished goalkeepers.

Salima Mukansanga (Rwanda): A trailblazer in women's refereeing, Mukansanga made history as the first female official to referee a men's FIFA World Cup match.

Fatiha Laassiri (Morocco): A former Moroccan international and a respected coach and mentor, Laassiri is a prominent figure in North African women's football.

The 13th edition of the TotalEnergies WAFCON will take place from July 5 to July 26, 2025 in Morocco. Twelve African nations will compete for the coveted title, including defending champions South Africa.

Qualified teams' includes; Morocco (Host), South Africa (Defending Champion), Algeria, Botswana, DR Congo, Ghana, Mali, nine times champions Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.

As the draw approaches, anticipation builds for the exciting clashes and potential upsets that will unfold in the 2024 WAFCON.
