Senegal striker Moussa Konate has credited his team-mates and coach Aliou Cisse for helping him to score the two goal that defeat Ghana 2-1 in an international friendly on Saturday.

Substitute Konate netted a brace from the bench as Ghana failed to bounce back from their Africa Cup of Nations final defeat in a 2-0 loss to Senegal on Saturday.

A sudden-death penalty from Ivory Coast goalkeeper Boubacar Barry last month denied a first continental title since 1982 to Avram Grant's men, who progressed to the last act despite a 2-1 defeat to Senegal in the group stage.

And Ghana failed once again to get the better of a Senegal team now under the leadership of new coach Aliou Cisse.

Both sides had chances to go in front in an even first half, but it was Senegal's Demba Ba who came closest when he hit the post from a promising position.

The match looked to have lost its spark at the beginning of the second period but a moment of magic from Konate earned Senegal a 66th-minute lead.

And the substitute - who had only been on the pitch five minutes when he opened the scoring - wrapped up the win with his second 10 minutes later, before Richmond Boakye headed a late consolation.

Konate says the coach and his team-mates helped him to score the goal against the Black Stars

"Many thanks to my team-mates for putting me in the right conditions to score the goals against Ghana," Moussa Konaté said after the game in Le Havre.

"I also thank the coach for giving for showing confidence in me. I am happy to be here again with him," added Konaté who was one of the key scorers for Senegal who also had Aliou Cisse in charge as coach during the 2012 Olympics.

The Black Stars will continue with a friendly against Mali in Paris on Tuesday.
