Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen has eased concerns over his substitution in Galatasaray's 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa, revealing it was due to minor discomfort, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Osimhen scored twice in the first half but was replaced by Dries Mertens after the break, sparking fears of a potential injury.
However, the 25-year-old clarified: "I do not have a serious injury. I felt a little discomfort," Osimhen told Galatasaray's official website.
"I thought I should tell my coach. If I reduced the team's performance, it would be bad. I didn't want my teammates' efforts to drop."
Osimhen's proactive decision ensured Galatasaray's momentum wasn't hindered.
"I told Mauro [Icardi] and the coach [Okan Buruk], and that's why I left the game," he added.
Osimhen's declaration will come as a relief to fans and manager Okan Buruk, as Galatasaray seeks to maintain their unbeaten Turkish Super Lig record.
The Nigerian international's fitness will be closely monitored ahead of their next outing in the Europa league.
