Napoli traveled to Hellas Verona for their opening fixture of the 2022/23 Serie A season. It was a very entertaining game, as the Gialloblu tried to match everything that the Partenopeans threw at them.
It was confirmed that the home fans were singing racist chants against Osimhen which resulted in his mockery celebration after putting Napoli ahead before the break.
Following investigation on the matter, the Serie A disciplinary body has found Hellas Verona guilty, and they will pay a €12,000 fine.
Racism is not a new thing in Italian football, as cases involving African players have always surfaced. Nonetheless, it is hoped that with more stringent measures, there would be a change soon.
