NPFL UPDATE: 3SC Shun Peace Meeting With Sunshine Stars

Published on: 06 November 2016

Nigeria Professional Football League side, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, on Sunday refused to show up at a peace initiative between them and fellow NPFL side, Sunshine Stars of Akure, in Lagos.

There has been a frosty relationship between the two South West top clubs in the recent past as matches involving the duo are usually tagged high-risk games.

The meeting, presided over by the Nigeria Football Federation NFF first Vice-President, Seyi Akinwunmi, involved all south west FA chairmen including their counterpart from Oyo State.

No reason was however adduced as to why Shooting Stars were absent at the meeting.

Akinwunmi said he was not pleased with the absence of 3SC at the meeting but added that it would be reconvened as the search for peace and collaboration amongst South West clubs continues.

“We’ll not be deterred. Search for peace is a continuous process and we will have to continue until amicable peace is found,” Akinwunmi said while adjourning the meeting.

Ondo State Commissioner for Sports, Dayo Awude, told nigeriasoccernet.com he was happy with the organizers of the peace move, saying in a matter of days or weeks, the meeting will be reconvened.
