The start of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season may happen by next month other things being equal according to report reaching Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The Interim Management Company (IMC) inaugurated by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) some weeks have been working to kickstart the league that seems to be behind schedule.

News from completesport.com tell that the league will start by the first of December, 2022 according to a source of the newspaper outfit.

“We are planning to start the league season in December and hopefully conclude by May next year in order to align with European season and check the frequency of exodus of players to foreign countries league,” our IMC source who requested anonymity divulged.

The source attested to the news that the 2022/2023 season will be abridged.

“The league has to be abridged because we don’t have time and we have to ensure that we meet the deadline set for the completion of the league season. It is not easy, but with the cooperation of the clubs, match officials, sponsors and the NFF I think we can meet the targeted dates.”

Club licensing  and stadium approval issues are challenges that need to be sorted before the commencement of the league.

Besides, the IMC had a meeting with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) management for a possible partnership to televise league matches.
