AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has expressed his delight with Samuel Chukwueze's improving performances, following a promising start to pre-season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigeria international, who struggled to make an impact last season after joining from Villarreal has impressed in Milan's friendlies against Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Chukwueze provided two assists against Manchester City and scored the lone goal in the 1-0 victory over Real Madrid.

Fonseca attributed Chukwueze's upturn in form to increased confidence and game time: "Chukwueze is more confident. Last season he didn't play much," Fonseca said. "I'm happy for Chukwueze, he's doing very well."

The 25-year-old's performances have hinted at a promising season ahead under Fonseca's guidance.
