FA Embarrassment Continues After England Players Receive Postcards From Former Boss Sam Allardyce

Published on: 30 September 2016

The FA haven't had a great week. Sam Allardyce has left his role as England manager under a cloud of corruption, lasting just 67 days in the job overall.

It's hardly ideal, and adds to the shame and embarrassment stemming from the summer embarrassment at Euro 2016. But just when you'd think things can't get any worse, it has. England's current crop of players received postcards from their now former boss Allardyce in the post on Thursday, despite the fact he was removed from his role days earlier.

According to The Mirror, the cards held a message saying: "The Journey Has Begun."

It turned out to be an embarrassing episode of events for the FA after postmarks on the card appeared to show they had been mailed on Tuesday - the day of Allardyce's dismissal. Seems like this is proof that the journey has ended, not begun!

The cards look to have caused much amusement for England players who appear to have seen the lighter side of the message.

The white postcards had further text under the headline that read: "Well done! Our journey has begun with our first win together. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Sam Allardyce."?

The print was then backed up by Allardyce's signature. The FA did however manage to avoid further embarrassment when they had to throw out 4,000 t-shirts they were planning to give away to fans at the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Malta. The shirts had printed on them a similar Allardyce quote - "The journey starts with us all pulling together" - on the front.

Gareth Southgate will be in the dugout for England's next game after Allardyce's dismissal - perhaps beginning a new journey for us to engage in!

The ex-England manager was found by the Telegraph to be involved in giving advice on how to negotiate third party rules on transfers as well as giving other derisory comments on English football.
