Official: Gusau elected 1st Vice President of WAFU B

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President,  Ibrahim Gusau has been elected as the 1st Vice President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) B zone, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The election took place in Niamey, Niger Republic, on Friday.

Gusau's election comes nearly two years after he became the President of the NFF in September 2022.

He has also served in various capacities within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).

The WAFU B zone comprises seven countries: Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Cote d'Ivoire.

Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, was elected President of the zone, while Oumarou Sawadogo, President of the Burkinabe Football Federation, became the 2nd Vice President.

Gusau's experience in football administration is expected to bring value to the WAFU B zone.

His new role will see him work closely with other West African football leaders to promote the sport in the region.
