EPL: Taiwo Awoniyi on target as Forest record historic six wins in a role

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi got his first EPL goal of the season, coming off the bench to score in the closing minutes of the game against Wolves as Nottingham Forest recorded six wins on the bounce, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side made history with six wins on the bounce with a 3-0 victory away at Wolves, courtesy of first-half goals from Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood, and Taiwo Awoniyi’s last-minute finish, his first of the season.

Awoniyi has had to compete with Chris Wood who is the club's leading goal-scorer for a starting spot this season, majorly coming on as a substitute although one must admit that he has been quite unlucky with injuries.

Just as seen replayed multiple times this campaign, Wood made way for Taiwo Awoniyi with the club already two goals up, he immediately looked to trouble the Wolves' defence, latching onto a poor pass-back from Matt Doherty but prodding just wide.

He was rewarded for his persistence as Nikola Milenkovi?’s lofted ball was met by Hudson-Odoi and played through to another fresh substitute in James Ward-Prowse, who squared for Awoniyi to tap into an empty net.

This result leaves Forest third in the Premier League and marks a historic sixth win on the bounce in the top flight since 1966/67.

Awoniyi would be hoping for a starting spot when next they play Luton Town in the FA Cup at The City Ground.
