Ajax Amsterdam has announced a crowdfunding campaign for their former player and Nigerian ex-international, Tijani Babangida, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
In a documentary released on Thursday, Ajax revealed that Babangida’s “many good friends from football” had launched a crowdfunding campaign.
“Six months ago, Tijani Babangida’s world collapsed. In a serious car accident, he lost his one-and-a-half-year-old son and his younger brother, while his wife was seriously injured,” the documentary caption read.
“‘Baba’ can count on the support of many good friends from football. They are helping him with everything and have started a crowdfunding campaign.”
The fund is aimed at helping Babangida navigate the trauma of the accident. An accident that involved him, Ibrahim, his younger brother, alongside his wife, son, and maid.
Ibrahim had died on the spot while his son died at the hospital. His wife lost an eye while his maid fractured a leg.
Tijani moved to the Netherlands where his wife continued treatment, especially with face construction.
The Kada City owner played for the Dutch giants for 7 years winning 3 titles as he scored 20 goals in 77 appearances.
