7 Match Ban For Peter Osaze Odemwingie Over Elbow Incident In Derby Loss To Leeds United

Former Super Eagles forward Osaze Odemwingie could be handed a seven match ban for a nasty elbow incident, which saw him sent off in Rotherham United 1-2 derby loss to Leeds United.

The Super Eagles fans favourite was giving a straight red card for a clear elbow on Liam Cooper in the 29th minute, his second club career red card in over 10 years.

It is expected that the English FA will review the incident and punish the 35 year old retrospectively, which could mean a straight three match ban for the instant read card, and a further three for the incident.

A suspended one match ban is also been mooted for Odemwingie, who posted his apology on social media during the course of the game, protesting his sending off.

In his post, he claimed the incident was an accident saying footballers usually jump with their elbow raised, but video evidence proved otherwise as Odemwingie showed no intention of winning the ball, instead went for the face of Cooper.
