Ahead of the forthcoming intense phase with the Round of 16 games in the UEFA Europa League, Bayer 04 are away to FC Köln on Bundesliga Matchday 24 at the weekend but will be without long term absentees including star striker Victor Boniface but head coach Xabi Alonso has provided a positive update on his rehabilitation.
Xavi revealed his current condition prior to the away derby at the RheinEnergie STADION on Sunday in his pre-match conference, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.
On Arthur and Victor Boniface, who are still sidelined, Alonso said: “They are currently working hard, ambitiously and professionally on their comebacks. Things are going in the right direction.”
Boniface who was due to make his first appearance of a major tournament with the Super Eagles of Nigeria suffered a muscle tendon injury in the right adductor area at the training camp in Dubai and had to return to his club for further assessments and treatment.
