The 22-year-old Senegal midfielder has made an impressive start to the Ligue 1 season and is emerging as one of the division’s most prominent players. Remaining in the Principality could give him the platform to continue developing before considering a move to a bigger club.
Chelsea move may have limited his opportunities
A transfer to Chelsea would have represented a major step in Camara’s career, but securing regular football in London could have proved difficult.
Chelsea have several players capable of operating in midfield, creating significant competition for places. For a young player still developing, an immediate run of first-team appearances would not have been guaranteed.
At Monaco, Camara is instead able to play regularly, take on greater responsibility and continue his progress in a more settled environment.

His performances during the opening weeks of the campaign suggest he is fully established at the club.
Across the first four Ligue 1 matches, Camara was named the most impressive young player in the division. The recognition underlines his influence in Monaco’s midfield and reflects the confidence he is gaining.
His form is also reinforcing the qualities that had already attracted attention from clubs across Europe.
His market value could rise further
Continuing to produce strong performances for Monaco gives Camara the opportunity to increase his value in the transfer market.
