Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has decided to ignore transfer advances from other clubs and commit his immediate future to newly-promoted Almeria ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The former Roma striker is in hot demand from clubs in the La Liga, the Serie A, and the Premier League after his 18 league goals helped Almeria to La Liga promotion last season.

Despite interests from other clubs, Sadiq has reiterated that his commitment to the Almeria remains at 100% going into the new season.

In an interview with Spanish news outlet AS, Sadiq revealed that he was always looking forward to playing in the top tier of Spanish football and since Almeria has qualified for that, he would like to do it there.

The Super Eagles star noted that despite the offers from other clubs, the affection and trust that the coaching staff at Almeria have reposed in him makes him fully committed to the club.

Sadiq said: "Playing in the First Division is a dream, and I want to do it with Almería. It is a place where I have found the affection and trust of the coach. I have very tempting offers, but I will stay 100% in Almería.”

Sadiq is currently with the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they prepare to face Sao Tome and Principe on Monday for Matchday 2 of the AFCON 2023 qualifying series.

Ahead of the match, the Almeria forward stated that he is only thinking about that match against Sao Tome and Principe and the Eagles' aim to make it two wins out of two in the qualifiers.

"Right now, I am focused on the games with Nigeria. Then we’ll talk about how the season will be with Almería. My mind is on winning on Monday, and I hope to God we get it," Sadiq said.

Sadiq is hoping to retain his place in the Super Eagles starting XI against Sao Tome after joining Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in a front two in the Super Eagles' 2-1 victory over Sierra Leone.
