The Nigeria U20 women's national team, the Falconets, returned to Abuja late Sunday after being eliminated from the ongoing 2024 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Falconets after reaching the finals twice in 2010 and 2014 failed to get past the second round this time, losing 2-1 to Japan.
After eliminating Nigeria in the round of 16, Japan advanced to the quarterfinals in the early hours of Monday defeating Spain by a lone goal.
They will play the Netherlands in one of the semifinals.
