Tsukasa Shiotani joins Al Ain ahead of ACL quarter-finals

Al Ain: United Arab Emirates powerhouse Al Ain signed Tsukasa Shiotani on Wednesday ahead of the 2017 AFC Champions League quarter-finals.

The 28-year-old defender began his professional career in Ibaraki-based club Mito Hollyhock in 2011, before assisting Sanfrecce Hiroshima to J.League titles in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Shiotani was also part of the squad that finished third in the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2015.

Shiotani also featured in the 2015 Asian Cup and in three AFC Champions League editions (2013, 2014 and 2016), and will look to bolster the West Asian club’s defence alongside Ismail Ahmed, Khaled Abdulrahman and Mohnad Salem, as they face Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal on August 21, 2017 in the quarter-finals, first leg.
