Manchester United were denied victory as Tottenham scored in the second minute of stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw in the sixth round of the English Premier League.
The hosts appeared on course for all three points after Brian Mbeumo put Manchester United ahead in the 73rd minute. His goal was the first of the match and gave the home side a narrow lead to protect.
Tottenham’s task became more difficult five minutes later when Rodrigo Bentancur was shown a red card. The visitors were reduced to 10 men, but continued to push forward in search of an equaliser rather than settle for defeat.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 90+2nd minute. Dominic Solanke scored Tottenham’s leveller, rescuing a point for the London side despite their numerical disadvantage.
Manchester United had looked close to holding on for victory after Mbeumo’s goal, but Tottenham’s late response ensured the points were shared.
