Moussa Djenepo's second Southampton goal was decisive at Bramall Lane
Sheffield United saw a goal ruled out by the video assistant referee as Moussa Djenepo's fine solo effort saw Southampton claim a hard-fought three points at Bramall Lane.
Oliver McBurnie thought he had given the Blades the lead shortly after half-time when he fired home from close range, only for the goal to be disallowed after VAR consultation.
It was Mali international Djenepo who scored the decider, firing past Dean Henderson after skilfully going past both the home side's centre-backs and holding off the attentions of Oliver Norwood.
Second-half Blades substitute Billy Sharp then received a straight red card for a rash challenge on Stuart Armstrong late on to complete a disappointing afternoon for Chris Wilder's side.
