Shaikh Salman wishes Australia and Russia the best in FIFA Confederations Cup

Moscow: Asian Football Confedeartion (AFC) President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has arrived in Russian city Saint Petersburg, to attend the FIFA Confederations Cup which will be held on June 17 to July 2, 2017.

The AFC President will also be attending several meetings with world football leaders during the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017. Discussions will include the latest developments in world football and the cooperation between AFC and other confederations.

Shaikh Salman expressed his confidence in Russia's ability to organise the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 at the highest of standards, pointing out that Russia has the financial, sports and human resources to host the global event in the best way.

"The FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 represents good preparation for hosting the FIFA World Cup 2018, which gives this tournament more importance. We were briefed about Russia's preparations to host the Confederations Cup during the recent FIFA Ex-Co meeting in Bahrain, and we know that preparations are perfect for the event. We wish Russia success in hosting the tournament," said Shaikh Salman.

Shaikh Salman also wished Asian representative Australia the best of luck in the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017, saying the team have the power, desire and technical abilities to bring honour to Asia.
