Playing for Napoli since 2019/20 second half-season, Italian international winger Matteo Politano delivered a proper seasonal performance under Gennaro Gattuso, capping 50 times, scoring 11 goals (with lots of assists and pivotal passes on top of those), and an overall proficient standard provided to the team.

To this end, according to Florence-based local source Corriere Fiorentino, Gattuso himself, just named Fiorentina new boss, is allegedly adamant over bringing Politano back under his command. Still on a loan-spell deal with Partenopei until June 2023, and a parent-club one with Inter Milan until June 2024, Politano will probably be evaluated by Napoli next boss, Luciano Spalletti, during summer training camp. Things are meant to become more clear afterwards, stay or departure.

Former Sassuolo player, previously linked to a move back to his home club AS Roma, has by the way already worked under Spalletti, in 2018/19, delivering kind of an underwhelming seasonal performance in that occasion.
