Rodgers: No Maguire update

Published on: 29 July 2019

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that there have been no fresh discussions regarding Harry Maguire's future at the club.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer with Manchester United already failing with one bid, while Manchester City are also thought to be interested.

There's a lot of speculation around Harry, but he's just got on with it. Like I've always said, we're all pretty relaxed with it.

However, Maguire does not appear to be distracted by the speculation surrounding his future as he started in Saturday's 2-1 pre-season friendly win at Stoke City.

Rodgers spoke out after the game and, having praised Maguire's attitude, the Northern Irishman insisted that the player is no closer to leaving the club, who value him at £80million.

He said: "He's been brilliant since the first day of pre-season.

"There's a lot of speculation around Harry, but he's just got on with it. Like I've always said, we're all pretty relaxed with it.

"We're looking to prepare the whole team and squad and Harry's a part of that. He was excellent [Saturday], he's working very hard.

"There's no discussion. I know you guys [the media] are looking for updates, but there's no change from the other night."

Maguire is 12/5 to be a Leicester player on the opening day of the Premier League season on 3rd August, while he is 1/5 to be at Manchester United and 8/1 to be at Manchester City.
