NFF Job: NPFL chairman denies circulating rumors

Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) Chairman, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, has rubbished rumors suggesting he is lobbying for the position of General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

These speculations gained traction on social media and were widely discussed on "Sports World Platform," a prominent Nigerian football WhatsApp group led by Sunday Agunbiade. Elegbeleye, a former Director General of the National Sports Commission, firmly denied the claims during a phone call on Tuesday as gathered by Nigeriasoccernet.com.

He challenged those spreading the rumors to provide evidence to support their assertions. Elegbeleye, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, emphasized his commitment to using his expertise to elevate the NPFL to even greater heights.

"I have never expressed any interest in the NFF General Secretary position," Elegbeleye stated.

"Those making these allegations might be mistaken. It's common for people to feel threatened by those who are successful."

He continued in a lighter vein, "Some folks just enjoy making things up about me. They seem to love writing about 'Elegbeleye this' and 'Elegbeleye that.' Let me be clear: I have no interest in the NFF GS role, and that won't change. I'm solely focused on taking the NPFL to the next level. Let them keep gossiping if that's what entertains them."
