As reported by Portuguese sport newspaper A Bola, Manchester City's plans to bring young Portuguese left-back sensation Nuno Mendes to the Etihad have now hit a roadblock.
Txiki Bergiristain had set eyes on Mendes at the end of last season, when the young talent impressed with several great performances that helped Sporting win the league, and the expectation was for the Citizens to bring him in this summer. Those expectations have now cooled off it seems, as A Bola reports that the negotiations are at an impasse. Mendes has a 70M Euros release clause in his contract and Sporting are hoping to sell him for at least 55M Euros, a considerable sum, but one we've seen City spend before.
