Published on: 04 July 2022

Remo Stars secured an important 1-0 win over Enyimba on Sunday in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 36 fixture in Ikenne to keep their hopes of finishing the season with a continental ticket (CAF Confederation Cup).

Remo Stars had gone five games without a win against the People’s Elephant in previous NPFL encounters before Sunday’s win. Sikiru Alimi’s second-half goal was enough to seal the win for the Sky Blue side.

A first-half performance dominated by the hosts witnessed Enyimba goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo making brilliant saves to keep the score goalless. In the final minute of the first half, Ojo pulled a superb save when he dived to his left side to keep off Remo Stars captain’s 20-yard free-kick.

Remo Stars restarted the second half with Alimi scoring the only goal of the encounter within 30 seconds, it was Alimi’s eighth NPFL goal of the season after joining the side mid-season

Ogunbote told the www.npfl.ng about the importance of the Enyimba win and how the players will make history if they finish with a continental ticket.
