NPFL: Ikorodu City thump Katsina United to move 4th

Ikorodu City recorded their biggest win in club history with a 6-0 annihilation of Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Thursday, Nigeriasiccernet.com reports.

After their outing in Ibadan where they secured a point, Oga Boys returned home to claim all three points, putting on a five-star performance at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos.

The rain of goals in the match day 31 rescheduled game started with 13 minutes of play as Emmanuel Solomon put the hosts in front.

Ojetoye Waliu broke free down the right, and Emmanuel Solomon met his low cross at the center to give Ikorodu City the lead.

Shola Adelani doubled the lead six minutes after the half-hour mark. The scorer turned provider as Emmanuel Solomon delivered the deftest passes to find Shola in the box to head in.

Ikorodu City confidently moved into the dressing room at half-time with the comfortable lead.

The Lagos side increased the lead after 10 minutes of play in the second half as substitute Oyedokun Tosin made it three.

Ayomide Cole turned his marker inside out and squared it in for Tosin to score.

In the 71st Cole got his own goal, finding the bottom corner following a superb cross from Ojetoye Waliu as the score turned 4-0.

Oladimeji Dada scored his maiden goal for Ikorodu City 10 minutes later to give his side an unassailable lead after conne brilliantly to a delightful cross from Waliu again at the back post

Four minutes to regulation time Cole put the icing on the cake to make it 6-0 with a thunderous finish for his brace,

With the win, Ikorodu City now has 49 points from 32 matches, to topple Shooting Stars and is just a point behind third-placed Abia Warriors.
