Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has given his former grassroots coach, Hyginus Okoye, a brand-new car to recognise his role in developing the Nigerian forward’s football career.
The Trabzonspor forward presented the vehicle to Okoye in Lagos, thanking the coach for helping to nurture his talent during his formative years at Young Stars FC in Satellite Town, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Onuachu began playing football at Young Stars FC before moving to FC Ebedie in Sagamu, Ogun State, where he continued his development.
His progress later earned him a move to Danish club FC Midtjylland, a key step in his transition into professional football.
The gift reflects Onuachu’s appreciation for the grassroots coaches who helped shape his career before he established himself as a Nigeria international and rose to prominence.
Onuachu, who has represented Nigeria’s Super Eagles, continues to play in European football with Trabzonspor. His gesture also draws attention to the contribution of coaches working at grassroots level, where many young players begin their careers.
