NNL MD5 - Nasarawa United seek rejuvenation against visiting Yobe Desert Stars

Published on: 15 December 2023

Seeking amends for their first loss of the season against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri, Borno State, last weekend, in the Nigeria National League, NNL, match-day four tie, Nasarawa United entertain bottom-placed rivals, Yobe Desert Stars of Damaturu in next Saturday's blockbuster at the Lafia City Stadium.

The Solid Miners conceded their first goal and defeat of the season in a terrain they thought a share of the spoils would be the least outcome, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

Coach Usman Adams and his wards are still embittered by the outcome but can only be compensated with a convincing win when they host their next opponents to reclaim their top spot position in the Group C stands.

The team had some rigorous sessions after returning to Lafia from Maiduguri a few days ago, including reviewing their last game, and working on areas to avert reoccurrence in subsequent fixtures.

During an exclusive chat with the Club's Media, Coach Adams said;

"As you are aware, there are two other great teams in our Group which were relegated last season from the top league, and these include El-Kanemi Warriors and Wikki Tourists FC".

"All these teams are eagerly doing everything humanly possible to come back to the NPFL".

"I can tell you, in clear terms, that no team want to drop points in their home matches. And this is one of the reasons we dropped points in Maiduguri".

"El-Kanemi Warriors weren't better than us in that clash, even though they are not a bad side, but they already had a mindset of winning the match, so they fought us with everything".

"Going forward, I want to assure our supporters and fans that we are going to win our next game against Yobe Desert Stars".

"They are equally not a bad team, but we know how we are going to handle the situation".

"We want to reclaim the leadership of our Group before Christmas so that when we are approaching our other games, we would be doing so as leaders".

"We won't disappoint our sponsor nor fans as we will surely bounce back", he assured.

At this spot, both Coach Adams and United need all the support they can get in their quest to return to winning ways, beginning with the game versus the team from Damaturu.

Yobe Desert Stars are currently last on the nine-team Group C table, with only two points, five behind second-placed Nasarawa United FC.

They have drawn two of their last three games and it is obviously going to be a daunting task confronting a wounded United side that is already condemned to victory and immediate directive by the Nasarawa State Government to bounce back to the elite domestic football league, next season.
