NLO: Lekki United hammer Great Olympics to begin campaign on a high

Lekki United made a big start to the 2025 Nationwide League One season after giving Great Olympics FC a thumping in their first match of the season on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Owoyele Michael's hat-trick and a brace from Odofin Timileyin gave Lekki United a 1-7 win over Great Olympics at Maracana Stadium.

Sidime Rahmon opened the score for the visitors in 13 minutes after he passed into an empty net following an assist from Osas Kelvin.

Michael Owoyele doubled the lead 9 minutes later as he rounded the goalkeeper and passed into the net.

The scoreline became 3-0 after Odofin Timileyin scored from a corner, well crossed by Michael in the 35th minute.

Two minutes later, Timileyin Odofin pounced on a loose ball inside the box from a corner to score a brace to make the score 4-0 at halftime.

The goal feast continued with Owoyele Michael bagging his brace off a brilliant pass from Osas on 48 minutes.

Owoyele Michael completed his hat-trick after 67 minutes as the encounter became a rout.

The home side pulled one back from the spot on 82 minutes before Okolofor John scored a screamer to put the icing on the cake on 89 minutes.
