Nigeria striker Victor Boniface will not face Rangers this evening in the Champions League

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface will not feature this evening when Belgian Pro League club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise trade tackles with Glasgow Rangers in a UEFA Champions League qualifier.

The 22 year old just became Union SG's most expensive signing in history when he transferred to the club for a fee of two million euros last week, ending his association with Bodø/Glimt in the process.

Boniface was ineligible to face Rangers as he is cup-tied having represented Bodø/Glimt in the first and second qualifying rounds, scoring five goals in four appearances.

Union SG have confirmed as much, with the Nigerian omitted from the matchday squad against the Light Blues.

However if Union SG are to make it to the Champions League Group stages the Nigerian will be eligible to feature for the club.
