Following Nigeria's loss to Guinea Bissau in the African Cup of Nations qualifier in Abuja on Friday night, Alex Iwobi has urged the fans not to give up on the team, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles winger was reacting to the 1-0 loss at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja which Nigeria's first on the campaign.

Mama Balde had scored in the 30th minute of the game to hand Guinea Bissau their first win against Nigeria.

The Everton star stated that the players and the staff will improve and get better in the next match.

“First and foremost, as players and staff, we know we have to react to this result,” Iwobi said during his interaction with the media after the game.

“All we can do is to improve and to all the fans, all I can say is that they should stick by us and support us because we give 100% not just for ourselves, but also for our nation.

“Next time we are going to do our best and make the country proud.

“We know we are privileged to wear the shirt, there are a lot of people who want to be in this position.”

Iwobi also stated that the Super Eagles didn't play under pressure in the game.

“I don’t think we played under pressure. Like the coach said, they scored with the only chance they created in the game,” Iwobi added.

“There is always pressure at this level we can handle it.”
