Mykhailo Mudryk made his first official appearance since November 2024 when the Tottenham winger came on late in the second half of his side’s goalless draw with Nottingham Forest in the third round of the Premier League.
The 25-year-old was introduced towards the end of Tottenham’s 0-0 match against Nottingham Forest, marking his return to competitive football after the suspension that had kept him out of action since November 2024.
Following the game, Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi was asked to assess Mudryk’s condition and performance after the Ukrainian’s first appearance for the club since his suspension ended.
De Zerbi’s message was one of patience, with the Tottenham boss saying that Mudryk “needs time”.
Mudryk’s involvement was limited to the closing stages of the second half, and his return came in a match that ended without either side finding the net. His appearance nevertheless represented an important step after the long period in which he had been unavailable because of his suspension.
The winger is currently playing for Tottenham on loan. His contract remains with Chelsea and runs until 2031.
Mudryk’s return gives him the opportunity to rebuild his match fitness and form with Tottenham, although his first competitive outing ended with the two clubs sharing the points. The draw against Nottingham Forest was Tottenham’s fixture in the third round of the Premier League.
De Zerbi’s assessment indicated that Mudryk will require time following his extended absence. Rather than being expected to make an immediate impact, the Ukrainian will now work towards regaining his readiness after finally returning to an official match.
The appearance also marked the beginning of Mudryk’s period with Tottenham after his suspension, with the player continuing his career at the London club on a temporary basis while remaining contracted to Chelsea.
For now, the main development was his return to the pitch. Mudryk entered the game late, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest finished level at 0-0, and De Zerbi made clear that patience would be required as the winger looks to re-establish himself in competitive football.
