AFC Sunderland manager, David Moyes has drawn comparisons between his Nigerian charge, Victor Anichebe and Ivorian legend, Didier Drogba.

Anichebe has led from the front in Sunderland’s charge to climb up the relegation zone of the English Premier League.

He netted three times in successive league games to inspire the Black Cats to back to back wins for the first time this season, predictably drawing words of praise from Moyes.

"I've got to say Victor was very good (in the 3-0 win over Hull City at the Stadium of Light on November 19).

“He was a good team player for us and he was like a young Drogba at times for us (against Hull), he was that good.

"He's been a bit unlucky with a few other chances but he's helped us find a way to win (that) game (against Hull).

“When we've needed people that can finish we've had them," Moyes.

Moyes and Anichebe were reunited at Sunderland following their alliance at Everton where the Nigerian striker scored 18 goals in 131 league appearances for the Toffees between 2006 and 2013.

His goals per game ration at Sunderland is even more impressive as he has netted three times in four league games for the Black Cats since he joined from West Bromwich Albion in the summer.
