Milner set to face Canaries

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is confident that James Milner will be fit enough to feature in the Reds' Premier League clash with Norwich City on Friday.

The 33-year-old former Leeds United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Manchester City star missed the Community Shield clash with Pep Guardiola's team on Sunday because of a minor muscle injury.

However, Milner is expected to resume full training in the next couple of days, with Klopp saying when asked if the experienced campaigner would be able to play against the Canaries: "I would say yes.

"It was a minor muscle injury. I would say he can probably train on Monday, although I am not 100 per cent sure. For the Community Shield it did not work out, but I think by at least Tuesday he can train."

Meanwhile, Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has joined Club Brugge in a £6.4million deal.

The 31-year-old Belgium international only made two appearances for Klopp's team last season and was on the bench as Liverpool lost the Community Shield against Manchester City on penalties.

The former Sunderland shot-stopper has inked a five-year deal with Club Brugge after spending the last six years at Anfield.

He played second fiddle to Alisson last term having almost left Liverpool in the summer of 2018 only for a loan switch to Napoli to fall through when Loris Karius was allowed to join Besiktas.

Mignolet played 204 times for Liverpool, who are 6/1 to beat Norwich 3-0 on Friday and 4/6 to keep a clean sheet against the newly-promoted Canaries.
