Joe Ledley Praises Wales and Crystal Palace Physio Sean Connelly for Euro 2016 Recovery

"?Wales midfielder Joe Ledley has praised the work of physiotherapist Sean Connelly in helping him recover from a broken leg in order to play in this summers European Championships.

Despite having broken his leg in early May, just over a month before the Welsh team kicked off their tournament against Slovakia, Ledley was still included in Chris Coleman's 23-man squad.

Ledley managed to come off the bench in what was a dream start for Wales, beating Slovakia 2-1 in Bordeaux, and the 29-year-old was quick to praise Connelly, who helped him in his recovery.

"I'm in one of the best shapes of my life at the moment," Ledley said, speaking to "?BBC Sport. "I've worked so hard. I've been in an oxygen chamber, up at six o'clock in the morning and not getting home until four or five for weeks. "Without him I don't think I'd be here. Everything's down to him. I appreciate everything he's done for me."

Most fortunately however, Connelly is also a physiotherapist at Crystal Palace so was able to aid Ledley in his rehabilitation straight after his leg break on May 7th against Stoke.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, Ledley's Crystal Palace and Welsh teammate missed the game against Slovakia on Saturday and training on Monday due to backs spasms, but Ledley is hopeful he will be fit to face England in Lens on Thursday.

"Everyone was gutted for him because he deserves to be playing," Ledley said. "But these last few hours he's moving about and hopefully in the next 24 hours he can get on the training pitch.

"He's worked so hard and been in fantastic form for Palace. For Wales he's been unbelievable and one of the best keepers for Wales."

After Wales' great start to the tournament Chris Coleman spoke to "?BBC Sport about the game. "I think it is my proudest moment. Our supporters keep on topping what they have done - that support today was unbelievable."

"In the second half the fans sensed we were a bit jaded and sitting back a bit. We came back and they got right behind us. Our boys showed passion and courage to come back. It was incredible attitude and mentality."
