"?Internazionale are reported to have made a concrete offer for Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian, as interest intensifies around the Italian.

The right-back has been unable to tie down a regular starting spot in the Manchester United team this season and has been linked with numerous clubs in recent days, including Barcelona, Juventus and Inter.

With a potential bidding war set to begin, Italian newspaper Leggo (via "?Football Italia) report that Inter are the first team to have made an offer to Manchester United, with the figure reportedly set at £13.5m for the services of Darmian.

"?"?Although United boss Jose Mourinho was keen to keep the Italian in the summer and understood to have turned down offers for Darmian, there appears to have been a U-turn and the Red Devils may look to cash in on the defender.

The bid from Inter Milan is reported to be split into two parts. An initial £900k will go towards signing Darmian on loan in January for the rest of the season.

Should the loan spell prove successful, then Inter will implement the second stage of the offer which includes signing the player permanently for £12.6m.

The Nerazzurri are keen to bolster their defensive options and provide current right back Davide Santon stiff competition for his place. New manager Frank De Boer will hope that some new additions to the squad in January will help see an upturn in fortunes for his side, having endured a difficult start to his regime as Inter boss.

The club sit in ninth place in Serie A and face the prospect of another season without a title challenge having only won three of their first seven games.
