Sassuolo have officially completed the signing of Ghana midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana from Atalanta, with the 23-year-old moving to the Italian club on a season-long loan.
The agreement includes an option for Sassuolo to make the move permanent. The transfer was confirmed on Sassuolo’s official website as the club strengthened its midfield with a player valued for his energy, versatility and ability in physical duels.
Sulemana will continue his career in Italy, where he has already gained substantial experience in Serie A. The defensive midfielder previously played for Hellas Verona and Cagliari before joining Atalanta. During his time with the Bergamo club, he also made his debut in the UEFA Champions League.
The Ghana international has additionally spent time on loan at Bologna, giving him further exposure to Italian football and another connection with the side Sassuolo are due to face shortly.
Sassuolo hope the move will provide Sulemana with more regular playing time and create the right conditions for him to continue developing. The club believe his arrival can add greater dynamism to their midfield and provide additional depth to the squad.
Sulemana remains under contract with Atalanta until 30 June 2028. His estimated market value is €6m, according to Transfermarkt.
The midfielder’s next challenge comes as Sassuolo prepare to play Bologna in the third round of the Italian championship.
