Tottenham have left forward Richarlison out of their Premier League squad for the current season after head coach Roberto De Zerbi told the 29-year-old he was no longer part of his plans.
According to ESPN, Tottenham informed Richarlison of the decision before the transfer window closed, giving him time to look for another club. However, he remained at Tottenham when the deadline passed.
Turkey remains a possible destination for the Brazilian, with clubs in the country able to register new signings until 4 September. Fabrizio Romano’s latest information suggests Richarlison is close to joining Trabzonspor.
The proposed move would offer Richarlison a route away from Tottenham after the club made clear that he would not be included in their Premier League plans. The decision was communicated before the end of the window rather than after it, allowing the player an opportunity to consider alternatives.
Despite those discussions, no transfer was completed before the main deadline and Richarlison stayed with Tottenham. The possibility of a move to Turkey remains open because the registration period there extends beyond the deadline that applied to the club in England.
Richarlison joined Tottenham in 2022. Since arriving, he has made 134 appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals and registering 15 assists.
His omission represents a significant change in his position at Tottenham, where he has been part of the squad since his arrival. The club’s decision, combined with De Zerbi’s message that he is no longer being considered, leaves his immediate future uncertain.
For now, Richarlison remains a Tottenham player, but Romano’s report indicates that negotiations with Trabzonspor could provide a late solution. Any move would need to be completed before Turkey’s registration deadline of 4 September.
