Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have been promised ?10,000 for every goal they score against CS Sfaxien in Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round first leg.
The incentive has been offered by Comrade Isaac Olawale Ifadare Ayangbile, vice-chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, as 3SC prepare to face the Tunisian club at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Kick-off is scheduled for 16:00 on Saturday, 5 September 2026.
Ayangbile said the reward was intended to encourage the players to produce a strong performance and secure a convincing advantage before the return fixture in Tunis next week.
“Every goal counts. One goal in favour of Shooting Stars attracts ?10,000,” Ayangbile declared.
The Oluyole Warriors will hope the offer helps them find the goals needed to take control of the tie. A positive first-leg result would give them a stronger platform for the second match in Tunisia and improve their prospects of progressing in the competition.
3SC are one of Nigeria’s two representatives in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup. Their meeting with CS Sfaxien is also a significant occasion for the club, who are returning to continental competition after a 27-year absence.
Their most recent appearance in a CAF tournament came in 1999, when they competed in the CAF Champions League.
Shooting Stars reached the mini-league group stage that year and were placed in Group A alongside Raja Club Athletic of Morocco, Al Ahly SC of Egypt and Accra Hearts of Oak S.C. of Ghana.
They ended the campaign at the bottom of the group with four points and were eliminated. Raja Club Athletic and Al Ahly progressed to the knockout phase.
The club will now aim to mark their return to the African stage with a result that gives them hope of reaching the next round. Their immediate challenge is CS Sfaxien, with the first leg taking place in Abeokuta before the tie moves to Tunis the following week.
The financial pledge from the Oyo State Football Association vice-chairman provides an additional incentive for the players as they attempt to make home advantage count. With every 3SC goal attracting a ?10,000 reward, the team will be expected to attack in search of a lead to carry into the return match.
