Michael Olise scored a hat-trick and Harry Kane reached 100 Bundesliga goals as Bayern Munich thrashed Union Berlin 7-0 to move top of the table, at least for the time being.
Kane reached the landmark in only his 98th appearance in the competition, 31 matches quicker than the next fastest player to achieve the feat.
Bayern made an aggressive start, with Olise forcing Frederik Rønnow into a save inside two minutes. The hosts had dropped points in one of their first three league matches for the first time since 2021, but quickly took control.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring with a spectacular 20-yard strike. The Germany international collected the ball just outside the penalty area, moved it on to his right foot and drove a powerful effort through two defenders and into the far corner.
Jonathan Tah went close to adding a second when Rønnow made an excellent save to keep out his diving header, stretching to his right to get a strong hand to the ball.
Olise was denied again before Manuel Neuer produced a trademark sweeper-keeper intervention at the other end. The Bayern captain raced from his goal and slid in to make a crucial tackle on Emmanuel Latte Lath.
Union’s Felix Uduokhai then brought down Olise as the Frenchman moved into the area, giving Bayern a penalty. Kane sent Rønnow the wrong way from the spot to register his 100th Bundesliga goal.
Olise doubled his personal tally before half-time, cutting inside and curling a precise finish from outside the box into the top corner.
Union attempted to respond after the break, but Neuer kept out Janik Haberer with a fine save before punching a header from Tom Rothe over the crossbar.
Bayern were more ruthless when opportunities arose. Kane scored his second of the match by heading in a cross from Olise, who had delivered the ball with dangerous pace.
Rønnow then made two saves to deny Luis Diaz as Bayern continued to threaten, but he could do nothing to stop Ismael Saibari scoring his first goal for Vincent Kompany’s side.
The Morocco international, who joined from PSV in the summer, dipped his shoulder, burst past three defenders and fired beyond the Union goalkeeper.
Olise completed his hat-trick soon afterwards, beating the offside trap to reach a ball over the top before striking the post and finding the net.
The 17 goals Union Berlin have conceded this season are the most in the division. The result also set up their heaviest defeat at this level.
For Bayern, the victory matched their biggest winning margin of 2026 and lifted them to the summit.
Flashscore’s Man of the Match was Michael Olise.
